Stacey A. Watt, MD, is a clinical professor and interim chair of the Department of Anesthesiology.
Thank you for exploring the University at Buffalo Anesthesiology Program.
We are very proud of our history as one of the oldest anesthesiology programs in the nation, as well as our alumni who are practicing in the US, Canada, and all around the world.
UB Anesthesiology is somewhat unusual, as there is no single university hospital. Instead, we are able to offer our residents to gain indispensable experience at our six separate clinical training sites where specialized anesthetic cases are routinely performed.
This broad-spectrum opportunity to experience such a clinical variety naturally exposes our residents to a vast variety of different anesthetic techniques pertaining to the care of cancer, cardiac, trauma, obstetric and pediatric patients.
Our program is committed to excellence in resident education, clinical care, as well as research. The extensive and in-depth training prepares each of our residents to successfully pursue their future goals, whether it be in teaching, clinical practice or research.
We are aiming to train the enthusiastic physicians who seek the adventure of an innovative, educational, unyielding clinical experience, as well as an extensive range of investigational opportunities through our prestigious NIH T32 Research Program, and we would like you to become part of it all and one of us!
Sincerely,
Stacey A. Watt, MD
Clinical Professor & Interim Chair
Whether you’re a medical student, resident or fellow, we’re committed to furthering your interests and skills in anesthesiology.
Training in anesthesiology at UB is designed to provide resident physicians with a broad range of experiences that will enable them to function as competent consultants in a private or academic setting.
To complement the residency, the Department of Anesthesiology offers three one-year fellowship programs. Our fellowships in pain management, cardiac anesthesia and pediatric anesthesiology are accredited by the American Board of Anesthesiology.
