Sleep Medicine

Train with a noted sleep medicine specialist to gain the skills needed for diagnosing and managing a variety of sleep disorders.

You’ll come to understand the neurophysiology underlying sleep disorders as you care for patients with:

  • obstructive sleep apnea
  • restless legs syndrome
  • insomnia
  • narcolepsy
  • cataplexy

You’ll gain competence examining patients with insomnia, excessive daytime sleepiness and abnormal nocturnal behaviors.

You’ll become comfortable discussing sleep studies with your patients.

This elective enhances your technical skills in:

  • polysomnography 
  • multiple sleep latency testing
  • wakefulness testing
  • actigraphy


  • 50 outpatients weekly
