Travel Funding Awards

Through generous UBF memorial endowments set up by the families of Suk-Ki Hong, MD, PhD and Hermann Rahn, PhD the department is able to award travel funding to eligible students looking to: 

  • attend a scientific meeting to present a talk or poster or
  • visit a laboratory at another institute to learn a new scientific technique

Approved applications will be awarded up to $1,500.

To be eligible for funding, students must be working on research with a faculty member of the Department of Physiology and Biophysics. Eligible students can receive travel funds no more than once annually except in unusual circumstances.

  1. Your current CV
  2. An official copy of your submitted abstract for the meeting/conference
  3. A signed letter of recommendation (one page maximum) from your mentor stating that you will be presenting an abstract at the meeting, as well as any justification for the business purpose for attending the conference. Please detail the research topics that will be covered by the attendee.
  4. Flyer from the conference you will be attending. Must include event title, date(s), location, and if possible, a basic itinerary of the conference. This can usually be downloaded from the event website or social media
