Orthopedic Interest Group

The Orthopedic Interest Group (OIG) aims to increase student and community understanding of orthopaedics.

The organization hosts dinner lectures and demonstrations that provide information on advances and research in the field. Members can network with practitioners and participate in discussions of current issues and developing techniques.

Dinner lectures feature talks by current physicians, fellows and residents as well as demonstrations of orthopaedic techniques.

Previous lecturers have included:

  • Michael Ferrick, MD, an orthopaedic surgeon specializing in pediatric orthopaedics, scoliosis and sports medicine
  • Christopher Mutty, MD, an orthopaedic surgeon specializing in trauma and joint replacement
  • Brian McGrath, MD, an orthopaedic oncologist

Who Can Participate?

OIG events are open to anyone considering orthopaedics as a career, or anyone who wants to further his or her understanding of orthopaedics.

The Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences and its student groups and organizations welcome everyone and are committed to an open, inclusive environment.
