    The Center of Excellence Bioinformatics Life Sciences (NYS) (CBLS) is a partner in a unique collaboration of three of Western New York’s most prominent research institutions:  The University at Buffalo (UB) is the lead academic organization, and Roswell Park Cancer Institute (RPCI) and Hauptman-Woodward Medical Research Institute (HWI) are research partners.  The mission of the CBLS is to study the mechanistic processes involved in human disease with the goal of developing diagnostic tools and therapeutic interventions, preventive treatment, and other disease management devices and processes to alleviate the suffering of humankind.  In fulfillment of its primary mission, the Center of Excellence Bioinformatics Life Sciences (NYS) acts as a facilitator of economic development via Government/Academia/Industry partnerships.

    The state-of-the-art facility features numerous sustainable building strategies, qualifying it for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) silver certification.
