Whether you’re a current high school student or a college student looking to transfer to UB, your first step is to gain admission to the University at Buffalo. When you apply to UB, select one of our programs as your major and your information will automatically come to the Jacobs Undergraduate Admissions Office.
If you are a current UB student in a non-Jacobs’ school major and want to change your major, review our program requirements and apply below.
All programs are competitive; application does not guarantee acceptance. A representative from the program will notify you with a decision.

Applying to college can be overwhelming! Let us help you. These tips will guide you as you decide which programs to apply to and ultimately complete your application.
Many of our students are interested in professional programs (i.e. medicine, dentistry, etc.) and a biomedical program will help them complete all of their required coursework. However, many of our other students are also interested in a future research career, working in industry, or other clinical settings.
Being a science major can be very difficult. Your course load will be heavy, and you'll be juggling a lot of difficult classes. You should be ready to take a variety of science and math courses and be able to balance them.
If you are a curious person, who likes to do laboratory work and solve problems, then a biomedical program may be right for you!
Start researching colleges and programs that are in areas of interest to you. This is also a good time to visit any you can. Many schools also offer virtual options.
Talk with your school counselor about what science and math courses you should be taking, and make sure you do well in them.
Continue researching programs and narrowing them down. Also, look into scholarship opportunities and financial aid.
Carefully select your senior year coursework, making sure you meet the requirements for graduation while getting additional exposure to the sciences when possible.
Complete your applications! Be sure to stay on top of deadlines. Don't forget you'll also need to complete your FAFSA application.
Once you receive your admissions decisions, you can make a decision on where to attend! Make sure to deposit by the deadline.
