Mehvish Khan, MD joined UBMD Internal Medicine as a clinical assistant professor in October 2022. Dr Khan is working out of Youngs Road in Amherst, as well as Conventus in downtown Buffalo. She completed her training in Scranton, PA, where she served as an internal medicine resident. She then moved to Burlington, MA, where she completed her endocrinology fellowship at Lahey Hospital and Medical Center.
She says she chose endocrinology because it presents with intellectual challenges and allows you to put in an understanding of biochemistry, physiology and genetics into patient care. She enjoys all aspects of endocrinology, however, her areas of special interest include thyroid cancer, osteoporosis and obesity medicine. As a board-certified obesity specialist, Dr. Khan intends to further expand into this space and continue to assist her patients in providing them the tools they need to help themselves. Being in academia, she is also involved in the education of residents and fellows in both outpatient and inpatient settings. She is excited to be a part of UBMD and be able to serve a diverse community close to home.
