Gene Yang, MD, PGY-5, won Top Gun, an event that showcases laparoscopic skills that took place during the 16th World Congress of Endoscopic Surgery in 2018.

The congress was hosted by the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES) and the Canadian Association of General Surgeons (CAGS).

The Top Gun Surgeon Laparoscopic Skills and Programs provide an effective and rapid development platform for skills acquisition and suturing excellence in the videoscopic environment. The program is pattern after the training methodology that forms the core curriculum of the United States Navy Strike Fighter Tactics Instructor program (SFTI program), more popularly known as TOPGUN.
