New members of Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA), listed below, were inducted on March 16, 2011, in a ceremony that was held in Butler Auditorium.
AOA is the national medical honor society. Election to it is a lifelong honor that signifies a commitment to scholarship, leadership, professionalism and service to the art of healing.
The distinguished lecturer for the ceremony was Seymour I. Schwartz, MD, Distinguished Alumni Professor of Surgery at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry, who presented a talk titled “Gifted Hands.”
He was introduced by David Dunn, MD, PhD, vice president for health sciences at UB, and a transplant surgeon.
Candidate induction was led by Gerald Sufrin, MD, president of the Buffalo Chapter of the AOA, who also made welcoming remarks.
