The review committee commended the program for its demonstrated substantial compliance with the ACGME’s program requirements and institutional requirements without any new citations.

The four-year combined anatomic/clinical pathology residency training program is directed by Ted C. Ondracek, MD, clinical assistant professor of pathology and anatomical sciences. Paul R. Hosking, MD, clinical assistant professor of pathology and anatomical sciences, is the program’s associate director.

“This continued accreditation with commendation is a testimony to the outstanding work of Ted Ondracek, Paul Hosking and the entire team of faculty and staff who make UB such a great place to train in pathology and laboratory medicine,” says John E. Tomaszewski, MD, SUNY Distinguished Professor and the Peter A. Nickerson, PhD, chair of pathology and anatomical sciences.

“One of the great strengths of our residency program is the enthusiasm and cohesiveness of our entire group of residents,” Ondracek says. “They not only excel as individual residents, but they also pull together and help each other whenever necessary. This was especially demonstrated during the pandemic and is reflected in our continued accreditation.”

The approval is a continuing accreditation, which is renewed annually over a 10-year period. The continuing accreditation period extends to 2026.
