Shavonne Stevens began her journey as a birth worker with the desire to improve the health of moms in her territory. Through this work, she also learned more about traditional methods of caring for our women. She is a Mother, Indigenous Birth Worker, Pregnancy/Birth/Postpartum Specialist, Lactation Consultant and a Seneca Herbalist

Shavonne will discuss the utilization of plant medicines in relation to pregnancy and how these medicines can be used throughout to assist the body during this time. This will allow students the insight into how Indigenous people provided maternal care and continue to promote the health of their women outside the realm of western medicine
