Graduate Faculty Appointments & Nominations

If you wish to train graduate students, understand the process for joining the Graduate Faculty.

UB faculty who wish to serve as major advisor or committee member for master’s and PhD students must be members of the Graduate Faculty. Jacobs School bylaws in the Graduate School Charter state that appointments of tenure-track faculty and nominations of non-tenure-track faculty must derive from the basic science departments and programs that award master’s and PhD degrees. Faculty in clinical departments who wish to be appointed or nominated to train graduate students must be supported by a basic science chair or program director.

Appointment and nomination forms must be submitted to the Office of Biomedical Education for signature of the Senior Associate Dean prior to submission to the Graduate School.

Note: OBE refers nominations for non-tenure-track faculty to the Health Sciences Divisional Committee for approval prior to submission to the Graduate School.
