Interested in taking a PPBS or MD-PhD student into your lab? Please review this information to better understand your responsibilities as a PhD mentor.
Students in the PhD Program in Biomedical Sciences (PPBS) complete a minimum of four laboratory rotations in the first year of the program. At the end of the first year, students will be "matched" to one of their rotation faculty; this person becomes the dissertation mentor and will employ the student in that lab for the duration of the PhD program. The student also joins the faculty member's department at this time or one of the PhD programs with which the faculty member is affiliated.
The PPBS polls faculty by email each May and November to identify potential lab rotation mentors for the fall and spring semesters. Faculty interested in being added at other times of year should contact Andrew Gulick, Program Director, and Tony Waleszczak, Program Administrator.
Please note: the faculty member's primary chair must be willing to sign a funding backstop letter to formalize the match.
