Panopto software allows faculty to record, edit, and publish academic video and audio for students to access. Discover the new updates for Panopto that will help you this fall.

Panopto accessibility upgrades

Students can download transcripts of video material through Panopto. With this update, you now have to option to remove timestamps from the download, creating a “clean transcript” that can be used for projects or taking notes.

Panopto’s ASR Captioning system will also receive improvements for better usability and accuracy.

Additional accessibility updates include:

  • Improvements to Panopto viewer
  • Ability to launch quizzes using the keyboard
  • Improved ARIA labels on the volume slider
  • Screen reader now announces search results

Easily trim and save videos with new feature

While in the Panopto editor, faculty can now save copies and smaller sections of their video. With the new “Save as” feature, you can choose to keep or discard trimmed sections and save a new, shorter version of the original video. This lets you easily break down a long video into a series of smaller ones and can help safely remove any sensitive content.
