More Zoom technology is becoming available for UB faculty and students in fall 2025, aiding in meeting planning and notetaking.
Zoom’s AI Companion meeting summaries can now be generated for course meetings in UB Learns. This new tool, available for both students and instructors, allows meeting hosts to create AI-generated summaries of UB Zoom meetings.
There's also an update for faculty to create custom breakout rooms ahead of time in UB Zoom through UB Learns. Instructors choose students enrolled in a course from a pre-populated drop-down menu as they assign participants to rooms ahead of time. Faculty can save time by pre-assigning students to groups manually or by uploading a CSV file.
Planning and hosting office hours has become easier, as instructors can now input schedules into UB Learns. Theses schedules can be different for each course or create global schedules which apply to all courses. Instructors can directly communicate with students about appointment scheduling and join meetings from within UB Learns.
Faculty can access these features by adding a UB Zoom integration to your UB Learns course.
Once an instructor has created a schedule with UB Zoom, their availability will show up for students in the Zoom tool in UB Learns. Students can then book and attend office hours inside UB Learns.
