The University at Buffalo is always working to improve and expand eduroam, UB’s secure and official Wi-Fi. This fall, access is continuing to expand as Wi-Fi will soon be added to UB’s public transportation system, coming to the smaller shuttles and later the larger Stampede buses.

Shuttle buses now, Stampede buses soon

In the 2024 Student Experience Survey, students ranked the Stampede buses the #2 place they would like Wi-Fi coverage to be added. Students will start to see the eduroam Wi-Fi network appear on the smaller shuttle buses in Fall 2025. Once this is added, work will begin throughout the fall and winter to bring network access to UB’s larger Stampede bus fleet, as well.

UBIT will continue to post updates on this expansion and its timeline on both the UBIT website and social media platforms.

How to connect

Passengers will seamlessly join the shuttle Wi-Fi if their device has previously connected to eduroam.

If your device has not been connected to eduroam, you can set up your device by starting the Wi-Fi Connection Wizard. Once registered, your device will automatically connect to eduroam when you’re on UB campuses or transportation for the next five years.

Having trouble connecting?

UB bus and shuttle drivers will be unable to assist with connecting to eduroam for the safety of passengers. If you do have trouble connecting on the shuttles or buses, students should contact or visit the UB Tech Squad, and faculty and staff can reach out to the UBIT Help Center.
