Thesis Title

The Role of Nociceptor Scaffold Protein Magi-1 in Osteoarthritis Pain.

Research Overview Publications

Research Description

My research work is focused on the characterization of novel analgesic targets to treat osteoarthritis-related chronic pain. I am interested in the regulation of voltage-gated ion channel subtypes that mediate action potential firing in nociceptive neurons. My approach includes in vivo genetic downregulation of nociceptor ion channel-binding scaffold proteins to determine effects on inflammatory pain-like behavior. Additionally, our lab is dedicated to the development of novel local peptide-based drugs to inhibit pain sensitivity via ion channel modulation.
