Through our demanding, yet supportive, three-year child
neurology residency, you will develop expertise in cutting-edge
care for a wide variety of neurological conditions affecting
infants, children and adolescents.
We prepare you well for certification by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology with specialized qualifications in child neurology. We also give you the experience you need to be certified in pediatrics.
You will work closely with top child neurologists who have nationally recognized expertise in epilepsy, autism, neuroimaging, pediatric multiple sclerosis, leukodystrophies and electrodiagnostic techniques.
You also will have opportunities to learn from experts in related fields, such as child psychiatry and neurosurgery.
Each year, we build your scientific knowledge, clinical skills and professional acumen, allowing you to assume increased responsibility for comprehensive patient care, teaching and supervision.
You will first gain a solid background in adult neurology before focusing in-depth on child neurology.
Through our diverse elective options, you will have opportunities to gain expertise in high-demand subspecialties and explore your interests in multiple sclerosis, autism, headache and neuroimaging, to name a few examples.
In several community-based ambulatory and hospital settings, you will help care for patients from urban, suburban and rural areas with diverse socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds.
You will gain a wealth of real-world experience in a geographic area with a strong need for neurological care.
