We provide training and consultation services for students, faculty, researchers and clinicians whose work involves digital whole slide imaging (WSI) and multispectral microscopy for research, teaching or clinical interests.
WSI is digitization of stained (IHC or IF) entire tissue specimen on a glass slide, resulting in a pyramid structure of multiple images at different resolutions where the baseline image has the highest resolution.
Please call us with questions about sample preparation to obtain optimal results from imaging.
Please acknowledge facility use in grants and publications.
If you are publishing data acquired or processed using MSI Lab instruments, please acknowledge us in your papers by mentioning where you did your imaging, sample preparation, or image analysis. This simple step supports our mission to help you with your research. If a specific staff member helped you above and beyond what is expected, thank them, by name.
You can use a format similar to the one suggested below.
"We acknowledge the assistance of the Multispectral Imaging Suite in the Dept. of Pathology & Anatomical Sciences, Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, University at Buffalo."
Finally, if you think that the Core Lab’s support of your research may be sufficient to merit authorship, take a look at authorship guidelines and email us to discuss this further. As would be the case with any prospective author of a manuscript, do NOT include any of the core lab staff as authors on a paper without proper consultation prior to submission.
Citations (with or without acknowledgements) of all papers generated using Core lab resourses would be gratefully appreciated. This kind of documentation of the research that depends on us is very important when it comes to justification for purchasing new or upgraded equipment.
Pricing for resource services is based on the actual cost of performing the services, set by an internal review of the time and consumables used for the services.
