These fellowships support rising second-year medical student
summer research projects with UB-affiliated faculty
The Dean's Research Fellowship supports up to six medical students in conducting a summer research project with a UB-affiliated faculty member. Students must be between their first and second years of medical school.
The Nader Fellowship supports one medical student in conducting cardiovascular-related research with a UB-affiliated faculty member. Students must be between their first and second years of medical school. The Nader Fellowship is supported by Nader D. Nader MD, PhD.
Dean's Research Fellowship: $3,000.
Nader Fellowship: $5,000.
Submit all materials by March 1.
You must find a research sponsor and set up a research experience before you apply.
As a participant, you must:
In addition to the participation requirements above, you will
submit a presentation proposal for an annual cardiovascular
conference. Should your proposal be accepted, your conference
expenses will be paid by the Nader Fellowship Fund.
We encourage you to attend our fall Meet and Greet to help you identify a potential research sponsor.
Once you’ve identified a research sponsor, work with that faculty member to prepare your application for consideration. Each of the following documents must be completed as part of your application.
Four copies of these documents must be delivered to the Office of Medical Education, as well.
Selection criteria include the strength of your research proposal, the value of the research to the your knowledge base and your ability to complete the research in the allotted time.
Awardees will be selected in March and notified in late March.
