Master’s Programs

Applying to the Master’s Program

You can apply to the Master's programs online. Your application will be forwarded to the program when you have completed the online application.

Please use this application for Biotechnology.

After you have applied online, submit your official credentials directly to the program you have selected.

You may pay your application fee online or submit it with your official supplemental information to the program.

Eligibility

A bachelor’s degree is required to enter the program. Admission is based on:

  • A grade point average of B (3.0) or better
  • Examination scores
  • Letters of recommendation
  • Academic performance
  • Research experience

Recommended undergraduate courses include general chemistry, organic chemistry, biology, physiology, physics and mathematics, including calculus and statistics.

Deadline

Your application must be completed and official documentation should be filed no later than March 15. The admissions committee of the program that you selected will review your complete application. You will be contacted directly by the program.

Fees

The application fee is $50.

You may pay the fee online or send it separately by check to the department.

If you send a check, make it payable to “University at Buffalo, SUNY.”

Requirements

You must submit these official credentials directly to the department:

  • Official transcript(s) from every institution you have previously attended
  • Three letters of recommendation
  • Resume
  • A personal letter stating career objectives and research experience. Research experience is highly desirable.
  • Official GRE score report

English Proficiency

International applicants must also present your official TOEFL score. TOEFL scores dated before August 1, 2010 cannot be accepted for Fall 2012 applications. It is university policy that TOEFL score reports be no older than two years when students enter a program.
