Peggy Compton, PhD, RN, will present “Translational Research in Opioid Use Disorder and Chronic Pain” in 403 Hayes Hall, UB South Campus, at a time to be determined. Her research explores pain and opioid addiction from a neurophysiological and clinical perspective spanning multiple interrelated clinical foci, including clinical pain, addiction, opioid analgesia and reward responses, and the phenomenology of addiction. She has studied the pain responses of opioid-addicted individuals and opioid-induced hyperalgesia in normal humans, and is clinically expert in detecting opiate abuse.
