Event

Chekhov Society - Short Story Reading

Date:
Friday, February 21, 2020
Time:
4:00 pm - 5:00 pm
Location:
Brain Museum (Room 1110)

We’ll be reading Isaac Bashevis Singer’s early masterpiece “Gimpel the Fool,” translated from Yiddish by Saul Bellow. That’s two titans of twentieth century Jewish fiction for the price of one! As always, we’ll first read the story out loud as a group, then if weather permits we’ll walk to Cafe 59 afterwards for happy hour drinks and literary conversation.

If you’d like to come please RSVP at the Google sheet below. I’ll send a pdf of the story out a couple days before the reading in case you’d like to read it ahead of time, although it is very much not required that you do so.
