I was looking for a residency program that would not only provide me with the breadth and depth of expertise necessary to be an exceptional pediatrician but also ample opportunities for research, academics and subspecialty training. After my two years in a research fellowship in pediatric cardiology, I wanted to train in a program that would fit my goal of ultimately pursuing fellowship opportunities. I chose UB because it excels in general and subspecialty training and is dedicated to quality teaching and patient care.
I like going from caring for severely sick patients in the PICU to well-child checks in my continuity clinic. After meeting my colleagues, I knew that they were going to support me and encourage me to grow as a pediatrician. On top of that, they are also easygoing, fun people to hang out with.
I also like living in Buffalo. It is a nice place to raise a family. The summers are magnificent; there is more sun and less rain than any city in the Northeast. There is something to do every week. You are never far from the water, whether rivers, falls or lakes. From the hustle and business of a big city to the serenity and quietness of a small town, Buffalo has it all.
