Jeffrey S. Ross, MD '70, is the Cyrus Strong Merrill Professor and Chair of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at Albany Medical Center and pathologist-in-chief at the Albany Medical Center Hospital, positions he has held since 1989.
Prior to that, Ross served as professor and assistant dean at the University of Massachusetts Medical School and research assistant professor at Harvard Medical School and the Massachusetts General Hospital.
An expert in genetic profiling, especially at it pertains to cancer, Ross has received numerous academic awards, holds four patents in molecular diagnostics and is the author of more than 810 peer-reviewed scientific articles and abstracts, four textbooks and numerous book chapters.
He has been a member of the NIH Clinical Oncology Study Section and serves on the editorial boards for numerous scientific journals. He has held multiple leadership positions for the American Society of Clinical Pathologists and the College of American Pathologists, as well as in other societies.
In 2004, Ross co-founded SYFR, Inc. a specimen management and autostainer company.
