Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine
Jacobs School of Medicine & Biomedical Sciences
Geriatric Medicine; Internal Medicine
As the Program Director for Geriatric Medicine, my responsibilities encompass the planning, development, implementation, and management of geriatric medicine training programs. These programs are designed to educate and train medical students, residents, and fellows, enabling them to provide high-quality care to elderly patients while emphasizing the unique medical, social, and psychological needs of this population. The University at Buffalo Geriatrics program offers training at three distinct sites: Buffalo General Medical Center, Veterans Affairs Medical Center, and Erie County Medical Center.
In addition to my role as Program Director, I find great satisfaction in practicing Hospital Medicine, with a particular focus on implementing comprehensive geriatric assessments during Acute Geriatric rotations for our fellows and residents.
As a member of the Geriatric Medicine Curriculum Development Committee, I participate in designing the curriculum to meet the ACGME requirements and educate learners in all levels on the principles of geriatrics, geriatric syndromes and how to conduct comprehensive geriatric assessment.
I am honored to have been selected by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) as a member of the Geriatric Medicine Item Writing Task Force (IRTF). This role allows me to actively participate in writing board examination questions. It's a privilege to serve my profession by playing a critical role in maintaining the integrity and validity of board certification and Maintenance of Certification (MOC) examination questions. This ensures that these questions accurately assess a physician's knowledge and competence in the field of Geriatric Medicine.
