Medical Student Education

Our student focus is to provide a clinical rotation which is representative of the diverse aspects of Emergency Medicine. In addition, students will be given the opportunity to choose optional activities, in addition to scheduled clinical time, to complete the rotation.

Some of these optional activities include:

  • Ultrasound — will provide basic ultrasound information and its application in the Emergency Department setting
  • Journal Club —  attend the Department of Emergency Medicine Journal Club to discuss current research in Emergency Medicine

In addition to the student rotation, our program offers a yearly summer student clerkship for students between their 1st and 2nd year. It includes participation in clinical research and clinical participation in the Emergency Department.

  • 3/25/21
The student elective in Emergency Medicine is one of the most popular rotations at the University at Buffalo.
  • 7/15/20
Our elective teaches you how to approach a research topic, conduct research and prepare information for publication.
  • 2/3/21
Medical students in this eight-week summer research program collaborate on research with an attending physician, enroll patients for ongoing studies at Erie County Medical Center, train clinically and present their projects to their peers.
