Through our demanding, yet supportive, three-year child neurology residency, you will develop expertise in cutting-edge care for a wide variety of neurological conditions affecting infants, children and adolescents.

We prepare you well for certification by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology with specialized qualifications in child neurology. We also give you the experience you need to be certified in pediatrics.

Each year, we build your scientific knowledge, clinical skills and professional acumen, allowing you to assume increased responsibility for comprehensive patient care, teaching and supervision.

You will first gain a solid background in adult neurology before focusing in-depth on child neurology. 

Through our diverse elective options, you will have opportunities to gain expertise in high-demand subspecialties and explore your interests in multiple sclerosis, autism, headache and neuroimaging, to name a few examples.

In several community-based ambulatory and hospital settings, you will help care for patients from urban, suburban and rural areas with diverse socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds.

The vast majority of your child neurology training takes place at a nationally recognized children’s hospital.

Our child neurology program is among a select few in the nation that offer a structured research experience for all residents. Guided by a research mentor who shares your interests, you will complete an original research project and formally share your results.

In addition, you will develop your own ideas for improving patient care by completing a personal improvement project.
