Buffalo General Medical Center

Located on the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus, Buffalo General Medical Center offers a wide spectrum of clinical inpatient and outpatient treatment programs.

This 500-bed acute care center, located on the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus, is one of the region’s major hospitals.

Much of the patient base comes from the local urban area. The hospital also serves as a tertiary referral center, with a significant patient population drawn from Western New York’s eight counties.

Patients present with the entire range of disease states in internal medicine, general surgery and cardiothoracic surgery, with many critically ill cases.

Training

In the Buffalo Niagara Center for Pelvic Health, you will see patients and perform surgery. In the Center for Minimally Invasive Surgery, you will be trained in the most advanced minimally invasive techniques. You will also be assigned to staff the Urogynecology Clinic and to assist with surgeries.

You also will serve as a consultant to the emergency department, as well as other medical services. You will complete a formal rotation in emergency medicine under the supervision of Department of Emergency Medicine faculty.

For Emergency Medicine rotation:

  • 24 full-time emergency medicine faculty
  • eight volunteer emergency medicine faculty

  • 15-25% Medicare patients in the ambulatory clinic
  • 35% Medicare patients on hospital services
