The Select Committee on Faculty Appointment, Promotion, Tenure and Privileges Policy reviews the policies and procedures of the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences concerning appointment, promotion, granting of tenure and termination of faculty, and makes recommendations to the Faculty Council in such matters, consistent with university policies.
The committee will review the Policies, Procedures and Criteria for Faculty Promotions document. Sections of this document that require specific attention include, but are not limited to inclusion of language for promotion criteria for research on health care disparities; inclusion of language for promotion criteria for community research; inclusion of language for promotion criteria for clinical trial team science; and promotion criteria for volunteer faculty.
The committee will determine whether language and/or a plan that addresses the systematic mentoring of faculty should be included in the Policies, Procedures and Criteria for Faculty Promotion document or whether a stand-alone document/policy should be developed.
