I have wanted to be a doctor for as long as I can remember; no other occupation was ever a consideration. I am privileged and thankful to be able to be a doctor and help people on a daily basis.
Early in my education I wanted to be an eye doctor, but once I rotated through orthopaedic surgery during medical school, I knew I had found my place in medicine. Although in orthopaedic surgery we do not routinely save someone‘s life in the sense of preventing death, we do save people‘s lives on a regular daily basis. As orthopaedic surgeons, we are able to help people continue to live the life that they want to live- whether it is enjoying a sport, working, or just walking; our orthopaedic treatments frequently "save" or restore that life.
I am very happy to be part of UBMD via the UBMD Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine group, a great group of doctors, physician extenders, and support staff. We work as a team to help each other provide excellent orthopaedic care for the people of WNY and beyond. We have the privilege and responsibility of teaching medical students and orthopaedic surgery residents, the next generation!
One of the things I enjoy most about our profession/specialty is the constant innovation and improvement in the methods and techniques, both surgical and non-surgical, to help "save the lives" of our patients.
