Holmes, MD, a clinical associate professor of family medicine in the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, for a story about how poorly the Western New York region did on the latest “County Health Rankings & Roadmaps 2022,” an annual report that measures health factors and outcomes in all U.S. counties.  Holmes recommended a holistic approach to better regional wellness – with a greater emphasis on improving mental health. “I’ve found that about half the patients at the ECMC Family Health Clinic are there because of unhealthy ways of coping with stress,” he said.
