Vijay Iyer, MD, PhD, assistant professor of medicine, has been named cardiology medical director at Kaleida Health’s Buffalo General Hospital.
In this capacity, Iyer is responsible for providing leadership for efficient, safe and effective delivery of cardiac services. He also facilitates the development and implementation of care models and practice standards in the cardiac care unit.
“Dr. Iyer has been a leader in quality and a pioneer in introducing new techniques,” says Margaret Paroski, MD ’80, executive vice president and chief medical officer at Kaleida Health.
A graduate of Grant Medical College of Bombay, Iyer received his doctoral degree in biomedical sciences from Drexel University.
In addition to his clinical and academic responsibilities, he serves as a local district councillor for the New York state chapter of the American College of Cardiology.
