Match Day 2021
Students gathered outdoors, on the UB South Campus, to learn where they matched.

Medical students in the University at Buffalo’s Class of 2021 learned where they will train in residency at Match Day, which is a rite of passage for prospective physicians.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this year’s event was conducted as a socially distanced outdoor celebration on UB’s South Campus.
Following remarks by school leaders, envelopes were passed out to each of the students. While standing by their vehicles, the students simultaneously opened their envelopes at noon to find out where in the U.S. they will be spending the next few years of their training as physicians.
Photos under a balloon arch and socially distanced congratulations took place, as well as a T-shirt ceremony, where students wrote and displayed on their shirts where they will be going to train.
54 Students Staying on at UB for Residency
Thirty percent of the class — 54 students — have chosen to stay at the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences for advanced training.
This year's class included 5 MD/PhD, 2 MD/MBA, 1 MD/MPH and 1 MD/MOMS student.
All 180 fourth-year medical students are listed below with their future medical specialties and the locations of their residency matches.
