Thermostats and Space Heaters

Faculty and staff members at 955 Main Street: Please note our advisories about thermostats and space heaters.

Thermostats

If you have a thermostat in your office, it is most likely shared with an office to the left or right of the thermostat. Therefore, before you adjust your thermostat, discuss the adjustment with employees in adjacent offices.

If you do not know which office shares a thermostat with you, please email John M. Marando. Provide him with the office number in question; he’ll help you determine which office shares your thermostat.

Space Heaters

Please do not turn on any space heater. Raising the office temperature with a space heater will indicate to building controls that your office is warm.

Consequently, the cooling system will attempt to compensate by trying to further cool the space.
