Jamf is cloud-based device management software available to all IT staff at UB. By offering more ways to manage device imaging and software installations remotely, IT staff can create a streamlined workflow to better serve customers, while keeping devices updated and in line with UB’s minimum security standards.

Faculty and staff: faster setup, seamless updates for your Apple devices

Faculty and staff using MacBooks, iPads and other Apple devices provided by UB may notice improvements as soon as they take their newest devices out of the box.

Support staff can now standardize new device setup; in some cases, you may even be able to take a new device out of the box, connect to the internet and watch as your device is set up and configured within minutes.

Remote software updates and installations also reduce the need for IT staff to schedule in-office appointments. Devices can be updated as needed over the internet, so maintenance can be performed on devices even when they’re being used offsite.

IT staff: widely available software packages, new options for management and security

Jamf provides flexible device management—you can administer support in a granular way, or implement a one-model-for-all device policy to streamline updates and other maintenance.

A central software repository collects software packages being installed on other Apple devices at UB and makes them available to others, so you easily find and install commonly needed software titles.

You can make approved software titles available automatically for download to your customers using either the traditional App Store, or Jamf’s own self-service app library. You can also manage installations directly as needed.

With a greater need for endpoint device security, Jamf enables you to administer Apple devices for your department in a way that limits the potential for viruses and ransomware. Compromised devices can be easily backed up and wiped from anywhere. Viruses can also be remediated remotely.
