Zoom AI Companion 2.0 is now available for students, faculty and staff. Make sure your Zoom app is updated on all devices to experience these new features.

What is Zoom AI Companion?

Zoom AI Companion incorporates AI technology to allow meeting hosts to initiate an AI-generated summary of their UB Zoom meetings. It can also assist you with whiteboard content creation.

What’s new with 2.0?

  • AI Companion can incorporate screen shared content and meeting chat messages to add context to AI meeting summaries. Enable these features in your Zoom portal settings.

  • Turn on AI Companion in the Zoom Workplace app to enter prompts for an AI search at any time.  Note: The only third-party data source UB has enabled is public web content from Perplexity.

  • Need a reminder to turn on AI Companion? You can enable a setting for Zoom to remind you to turn on AI Companion whenever you host a meeting.

Update Zoom app by February 1st

If you haven’t already done so, make sure your Zoom app is updated by February 1, 2025 on all your devices to avoid disruptions during the semester.
