CAREER ADVISING AT JACOBS

Dear medical students,

In preparation for our reaccreditation visit, we have identified a need to improve communication and awareness of services available to you.

The LCME asks students if you agree with the following two statements:

  • The medical school has an effective system for advising about elective choices.
  • The medical school has a coordinated career advising system that spans all years of the medical education program

In an effort to clearly communicate the programming and resources provided across all 3 phases of the Well Beyond curriculum, we have put together the attached document. It is our hope that this information will serve as a guide to understanding what to expect, how specific components of the medical education program contribute to your career exploration and preparation, and how the Jacobs School provides opportunities for students to connect with mentors, advisors, and role models.

This document also includes links to internal and external resources we recommend our students engage with.

Above all else, we want to ensure that you are aware of the staff in the Office of Student and Academic Affairs who are always available and happy to meet with you beyond the mandatory annual meetings to discuss your personal career path.

Sincerely,

The Office of Student and Academic Affairs &

The Office of Accreditation and Quality Improvement
