Program director Ryan Breuer, MD.

Our fellowship training has the advantages of a well-established and diverse curriculum, expert faculty, a world class clinical training site and recognition of quality in the community.

Our three-year program is accredited by the Accreditation Council of Graduate Medical Education and structured to provide resources and mentorship to groom you for a career as an exceptional pediatric intensivist.

We choose two outstanding fellows per year and make each an integral part of our care team.

We will build your clinical expertise from year one and you will be given a lot of autonomy from the beginning of your fellowship. Most patient related management questions will be directed to you.

You will be mentored and trained to be able to take the lead during daily multidisciplinary morning rounds once you reach your second year of training.

As you learn best practices from our pediatric critical care medicine experts, you will care for diverse patients with an array of conditions, providing you with ample time to focus on clinical knowledge, skills and experiences.

Our program benefits from being centered in the only free-standing children’s hospital in the region, and as such receives referrals from across Western New York.

In addition, the city of Buffalo is home to a large refugee and indigent population, exposing you to a variety of rare genetic, metabolic and infectious disease processes you may not otherwise have the opportunity to manage.

Oishei Children’s Hospital is a Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center and provides both neonatal and pediatric extracorporeal membrane oxygenation. It includes a 20-bed pediatric intensive care unit and a 64-bed Level IV neonatal intensive care unit.

Our program also aims to contribute to medical knowledge through the pursuit of rigorous, high-quality research. Guided by faculty mentors, you will exposed to a rich variety of patients and technology that will enhance your pursuit of basic science, translational and clinical research questions.

Please take a look around our website, and feel free to contact me with questions.

Best regards,
