McCormack Appointed as Interim Executive Director of UBMD Physicians' Group

Dear Jacobs School community,

I am pleased to announce the appointment of Robert F. McCormack, MD, MBA, as the interim executive director of UBMD Physicians' Group, our 630-member faculty practice at the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences at the University at Buffalo. Dr. McCormack, who will maintain his role as chair of the Department of Emergency Medicine, brings a wealth of experience and leadership to his new role.

In addition to his responsibilities as chair, Dr. McCormack was recently appointed as associate dean for ambulatory strategy, further demonstrating his commitment to enhancing health care delivery. His proven track record in building robust academic and community divisions within the Department of Emergency Medicine reflects his dedication to providing exceptional care to the patients of Western New York.

Collaborating closely with UBMD leadership, clinical partners and university stakeholders, Dr. McCormack will work to invigorate UBMD’s strengths. His responsibilities will include overseeing clinical practice management, driving strategic vision and fostering strong relationships between the Jacobs School, UBMD and partner institutions.

As interim executive director of UBMD, Dr. McCormack will guide a reorganization of the leadership model. His focus will be on developing a management strategy to enhance UBMDs high quality patient care while lowering administrative costs. Additionally, he will oversee the facilitation of shared service integration, establish an optimized revenue cycle operation, define contract negotiation protocols, evaluate operational efficiency and provide supervision for UBMD staff and budget.
