Pediatric Emergency Medicine Track

Gain extra instruction and experience in the subspecialty of pediatric emergency medicine.

Goal

The goal for this track within the UB EM residency is to provide trainees with extra instruction and experience in the subspecialty of pediatric emergency medicine. Those residents seeking job opportunities in community medicine or have an interest in a PEM fellowship, may find spending extra time in pediatrics beneficial.

Components

  • Attendance at 50% of PEM fellowship academic sessions each month. These include chapter reviews, ROSH questions, QA and M&M cases as well as monthly mock traumas.
  • ED-PICU conferences: biannually as scheduled
  • All monthly PEM|CoR sessions mandatory; create/run scenario station each session during 2nd/3rd years
  • Create and present an EM grand rounds on a PEM topic during 2nd or 3rd year
  • Complete monthly PREP E-Med questions which we review together during Track sessions
  • Complete Advanced PEM elective as an EM-3
  • Accompany Dr. Emborsky with outreach events to local hospitals.
