Make a positive impact on patient care as you train with our expert faculty in a thriving suburban practice and community hospital.
As a resident on our suburban track, your longitudinal outpatient training takes place in UB Family Medicine of Amherst, a nationally recognized patient-centered medical home also renowned for excellence in diabetes care.
Supervised by our faculty, you’ll follow a panel of families and spend an increasing amount of time here as your residency progresses. The diagnoses you make will cover the breadth of acute and chronic illness, including mental health conditions.
You’ll have plenty of time built into your schedule to gain proficiency in a number of outpatient procedures, including vasectomies.
When your patients are admitted, you’ll care for them at Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital, located just one mile from your family medicine center. You and your peers will serve as the hospital’s only primary care residents, so you’ll benefit from ample patient interactions.
What’s more, you’ll enjoy a diverse training experience as you care for patients not only on the medical floors and the telemetry unit but throughout the hospital, including the obstetrics ward, the intensive care unit and the newborn nursery. Outside of your surgery rotation, you’ll gain additional experience in interventional radiology procedures.
Your inpatient service rotation at Millard Suburban accounts for 12 weeks of your PGY-1 year and 16 weeks of your second and third years.
Each of our residency tracks has its own match number, so you may rank each separately when you apply to our program through ERAS.
We accept four residents into the suburban track annually.
