Areas of Research

Our division has made significant contributions to research on irritable bowel syndrome, hepatitis C, fatty liver disease, functional gastrointestinal disorders, behavioral medicine, tele-hepatology and intestinal secretion.

Our faculty members and fellows are engaged in innovative translational, basic and clinical research in many areas of gastroenterology, hepatology and nutrition. Developing and expanding research opportunities in liver diseases is one of our division's major pursuits.

In our clinical research, we emphasize the study of care models for diseases such as viral hepatitis. In our translational work, we aim to design therapeutic approaches based on improved knowledge of the pathophysiologic mechanisms that lead to gastrointestinal diseases.
