Residents as Educators Pathway

The Residents as Educators Pathway provides selected residents with a unique opportunity to enhance their residency training with additional experiences and comprehensive skill training in various educational domains.

Those interested in the Residents as Educators Pathway customize a longitudinal curriculum tailor-fit to their career goals, under direct faculty mentorship, in preparation for a career as an educationalist or in academic medicine. 

The pathway is offered as either a one (PGY-3) or a two (PGY-3 and PGY-4) year pathway.

Experiences

Our program provides a range of experiences:
  • Residents as Educators Elective I
  • Residents as Educators Elective II
  • Medical Education Research Elective
  • Participation in the Jacobs Educator Excellence Program
  • Direct mentorship from educational leadership
  • Option to earn a master’s degree in education in conjunction with the Medical Education and Educational Research Institute
  • Participation on programmatic, institutional and national education committees
  • Direct mentorship of junior residents and medical students
