12 Projects, Researchers Recognized in Medicine’s Research Day

A total of 12 projects and their researchers were recognized as best in their categories at the Department of Medicine’s fifth annual Research Day.

More than 100 posters were presented at the event. Two faculty members received awards, and the first recipient of the Dr. Gerald L. Logue Memorial Award was honored.

The event showcased the research accomplishments of residents, fellows and junior faculty from all 12 divisions of the department.

Two Faculty Members Receive Recognition

The following faculty were honored:

  • Umesh Sharma, MD, PhD, assistant professor of medicine, received the Junior Faculty Award for Outstanding Research.
  • Jessica L. Reynolds, PhD, associate professor of medicine, received the Faculty Award for Outstanding Mentorship.

Gandhi is First Recipient of Logue Memorial Award

Shipra Gandhi, MD, a hematology-oncology fellow, is the first recipient of the Dr. Gerald Logue Memorial Award.

The award was endowed by the family and friends of Logue to recognize outstanding students in the field of hematology/oncology. Logue was a former professor of medicine and chief of hematology.

Research Day took place June 24 at the Millennium Hotel in Cheektowaga, New York.
