Postdoctoral Training

Postdoctoral training in our department will help you refine your professional goals as you advance to the next stage of your career.

Our training program emphasizes flexible, diverse approaches to research problems. You’ll have the opportunity to build your projects in our highly collaborative environment, to publish and present your findings in a variety of settings, and to acquire the sophisticated skill set of a well-rounded, independent biomedical research scientist.

Our faculty’s research portfolios span the breadth of our dynamic field. Within our respective domains, we’ll mentor you through your research, training you to harness biomedical informatics systems and tools, to effectively analyze data and to write persuasive, competitive grant proposals.

You’ll refine your skills by working with UB’s state-of-the-art computational resources and with a wide range of health information processing tools and databases. We offer you research training in diverse clinical, public health and research settings affiliated with our rapidly expanding academic health center.

As a postdoctoral trainee, you’ll also share your areas of competency and interest by teaching graduate and undergraduate students.

Through your training, you’ll build interdisciplinary skills that will position you well for careers in:

  • academic research in the basic biomedical and clinical information sciences
  • applied research in a public health, hospital, other health care or corporate setting
