Research

Our pursuit of groundbreaking research in geriatrics and palliative medicine complements our division’s commitment to excellence in clinical care and education.

Clinical research has been focused on outcomes research and has received funding from the National Institutes of Health (NIH), national and local foundations. The research has been conducted solely within the division or with local or national collaborators.

The research includes investigations into:

  • prevention and management of delirium
  • classification and management of behavior disturbances
  • home hospital
  • behavior programs to improve outcomes of CHF
  • risk stratification for congestive heart failure
  • management of nursing home-acquired pneumonia
  • predicting outcome of rehabilitation
