Thomas R. Beam, Jr. was a UB professor known internationally for his research on drug-resistant bacteria and viruses.
This fund, established by various colleagues and friends, supports outside speakers to deliver the Dr. Thomas R. Beam, Jr. Memorial Lecture for the Division of Infectious Disease at the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences.
The lecture takes place during the Infectious Disease Conference Series, which uses case discussions and didactic lectures to focus on the practical aspects of clinical infectious disease diagnoses and management. Along with faculty and fellows, medical residents, medical students and a wide variety of specialists attend this series.
