Message from the Program Director

Renee Reynolds, MD

“Where will you be in the next seven years? How can you ensure you will receive the training that will enable you to develop a career using the most cutting-edge technological advancements?”

These are the questions that are paramount, serving as the guiding principles in designing a neurosurgical education platform for residency training.

Residents in our training program are taught the latest and most innovative technologies in minimally invasive spine and cranial techniques. Cutting-edge endovascular and endoscopic approaches are world-class at our clinical practice, and are balanced with conventional skull base and open vascular surgical techniques.

As minimally invasive spine techniques continue to play an emerging role in the care of spinal disorders, we have also introduced combined orthopedic and neurosurgical procedures for complex scoliosis and other deformities of the spine.

In order to provide the most comprehensive training program, our pediatric neurosurgeons lead a robust clinical and research service at Oishei Children’s Hospital. Additionally, our presence at Buffalo’s premiere oncology facility, Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center, provides a multidisciplinary approach to neoplasms of the central nervous system. Finally, our dedicated functional neurosurgery practice introduces our residents to the latest emerging technologies in what may be one of the most exciting growth opportunities in neurosurgery.

Ranked in the Top 10 for academic productivity in impact journals, our program leads in peer-reviewed publications, chapters, and plenary lectures. An active academic calendar replete with oral and written board examination courses, journal clubs, surgical laboratory exercises, visiting professor lecture series, organized surgical instructional courses and research symposiums help us give you the tools that you need to prepare you for your neurosurgical career.

If you are looking for a training program that will prepare you for the practice of neurosurgery—now and in a decade from now—take a closer look at the tremendous educational experience and opportunity our team has cultivated for you. We invite you to come along with us to start your neurosurgical journey. As you know, tomorrow is right around the corner and your future lies in the choices that you make today.
