Advance your career potential by completing a basic or clinical research project that explores an intriguing question in the field of neurosurgery, guided by a faculty mentor who shares your interests.
With dedicated laboratory space equipped with state-of-the-art technology, and a faculty composed exclusively of highly skilled, nationally recognized leaders in the field of neurosurgery, we are continually immersed in innovative and exciting research projects. Residents have the opportunity to participate in one of these projects during their research rotation.
The Canon Stroke & Vascular Research Center, a futuristic facility, offers a unique research experience. It is founded on the principles of collaboration and it is a true example of multidisciplinary cooperation and partnership. Consistent with its mission, the Center focuses on three major areas, each directed by experts in the field: image optimization and dose reduction for endovascular procedures; hemodynamics; and prosthetic (device) development. Further, it forms strategic alliances with industry partners, internationally, nationally, and locally, to advance its goals.
It is the interaction of a multidisciplinary team of outstanding individuals from diverse but complementary backgrounds that gives the Canon Stroke & Vascular Research Center a unique advantage. Each researcher brings his/her own individual expertise, experience, and perspective to bear on the modification and repair of stroke-producing blood vessel abnormalities. The resultant synergy creates an exciting research environment.
Additional research opportunities are available in radiosurgery, neuro-oncology, and pediatric neurosurgery. Support staff are in place to assist with IRB submission and protocol reviews.
